FAQ
Short answers about cost, meets, rosters, drafts, waivers, trades, and scoring edge cases.
Yes. Creating a league, joining one, drafting, and playing a full season are free. There is no card required and no paid tier to unlock scoring.
Heatsheet tracks the professional World Athletics calendar, including Diamond League meetings, Continental Tour stops, and major championships. Your league commissioner chooses which of the available meets go on your league's schedule, and only those meets score.
A default roster holds 14 athletes, 10 of whom start at each meet. Commissioners can change both numbers when setting up a league.
Your 10 starters can include at most 2 athletes from each of five categories: sprints (up to 400m), middle distance (600m to 2000m), distance (3000m and up), field (jumps and throws), and specialty (hurdles, steeplechase, combined events, and race walks).
Drafts are live and snake-ordered: the pick order reverses every round so the team picking last in round one picks first in round two. Each pick has a 90-second clock, and the whole league drafts together in real time.
Up to 8. Smaller leagues work fine; a league of four to six friends still has a full draft and a full season.
Rosters lock when a scheduled meet starts. Until then you can swap starters, claim waivers, and make trades freely. Once locked, your lineup stands until the meet has been scored.
When a manager drops an athlete, that athlete goes on waivers for 24 hours. Any team can put in a claim, and claims resolve in priority order: the team with the fewest points gets first choice, with ties broken in favour of the team that drafted later in round one.
Yes. Propose a trade to another manager, and it executes as soon as they accept. Commissioners can set a trade deadline after which no trades go through. There is no league vote or veto.
A disqualification, did-not-finish, or did-not-start earns no place points and no record bonuses. Any round-advancement bonus the athlete already earned in earlier rounds is kept, because the advancement itself still happened.
Not for placing. Place points come only from the final. Heats and semifinals earn advancement bonuses when the athlete progresses, which is why championship weeks are worth so much more than a single Diamond League race.
By overall placing only. The individual disciplines inside a combined event are not scored separately, so a decathlete who wins the 100m leg does not collect sprint points for it.
Yes. Alongside professional leagues scored from World Athletics results, Heatsheet supports NCAA leagues scored from TFRRS results.
No. The draft board rates every athlete on a single scale so you can compare a sprinter with a thrower, and our events guide explains how each discipline is run. Knowing the sport helps, but the same is true of any fantasy game.
